WELLINGTON HARBOR DOCK.

(Pek Pkess Association.) Wellington, September 28. The Wellington Harbor Board, at a special meeting a few days ago,.considered a, letter from Messrs ,M'Lean and Sons, contractors -for the construction of tile graving dock at a cost of nearly £200,000, stating that the work could not be carried out according to the specifications. The Board resolved then to abandon the contract and this decision was confirmed at the ordinary meeting to-night, when the Chairman made a full statement of the position. It was decided to endeavor to get a Bill passed by Parliament authorising the Board to postpone the. construction of the dock, and providing that. the. Board may at any time construct the dock or mav apply the sum. of £250,000. part ...of-the loan, authorised by the Wellington -Harbor Board Reclamation and "Empowering Act, 1903, to the construction of such deck and works incidental, thereto.
