HILDERTHORPE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) This district has had a fair share of the high winds, sharp frosts, and welcome showers that other pans have experienced. The oat and wheat crops look well, but grass is very scarce. Some farmers have' lost a few sheep. otlierwi.se stoe-k is looking well. With a twenty-four hours' rain things would bloom. Mr Clima met with a nasty accident last week, when a horse he was leading tool: fright and trampled on his log, which caused a fracture'. We understand lhal he is progressing favorably. "Bill" has ridden for many years at'ihe Oamaru show in the jumping contests, ami his riding has always been intcres-ting. We trust that his happy face will seem be .m'oii in this neighborhood again. It never rains but it pours. Mr J. G. M'Don.lH. of the Homestead Block, while driving from I'apakaio oil Monday morning, met with a serious accident. The horse he was driving kicked out, smashed the trap, and broke M' M'Donald's leg. -Mrs China rendered first-aid. anel the patient was driven home, where T)r Garlaml was soon m attendance. He is doing well under'the circumstances.
Mr George Bishop, of this locality, who possesses a first-class phonograph, has entertained a number of the settlors in ilie-ir several homes. Mr Bishop's reoorels are some of the latest, ami Inning a large assort nii'iit lie gives an interesting evening's entertainment. This neighborhood is indebted to him for his kindness.
