AUCKLAND SNUBBED.

(Per Press Absooiation.) Gisborne, September 26.A special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, held to-day, considered a telegram from Mr Gnnson, Chairman of the. Auckland Chamber, asking this Council's co-operation in protesting to the Government regarding the proposed mail service arrangement with the Union Company. It was unanimously decided by the meeting that Mr Gunson's telegram be received, and that the Auckand Chamber be informed that the Gisborne Chamber decline to give its .support in the matter. The Chairman (Mr John Townlcy) <-aid it was a piece of unpardonable presumption on the part of the Auckland Chamber to address such a communication to the Gisborne Chamber. Auckland made a mistake, in imagining it was New Zealand, and had gone much too far in the mail service matter. It was absurd to ask irresponsible bodies like Chambers of Commerce to determine such a weighty matter, involving a large annual expenditure.
