CONTROL OF TRAMWAYS.

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, July 27. At a meeting of the City Council tonight a motion was unanimously adoptthe effect that the Amendment Bill be opposed, as if it passed the Council's administration of its tramways would possibly bo unnecessarily hampered and its powers seriously prejudiced. A report by the tramways manager, was presented to the Council. It expressed the opinion that so far as the local system was concerned there was not the slightest, necessity for passing the Bill, and 'strongly recommended that the measure be opposed.
