PEA RIFLE PERIL.
'(Per Press Association.) • H.okitika, July 23. ..A' - ; sad shooting. fatality occurred at Koftleraiigi yesterday evening. From the meagre particulars available it appears that a shooting party left a pearifle behind a door at the residence of Mr A. Harcoiirt. A son of his, about ziine years of age, playfully snapped ib' off three or four times without result. A schoolmate (Rosy Norman), about the same age, approached the house, and lie pointed the firearm, with a jocular j remark," and pulled the trigger. The cartridge took effect and lodged in the breast, of the girl. She rushed to Mrs Harcoiirt and fell into her arms, death being almost instantaneous.
