A Committee meeting of tlie above was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. I lie president (Mr J. Bitchener) presided over an attendance ot la membeis. lne question of appointing ;i secretary was discussed. The sub-committee repotted that as the Racing Club did not hold tlieir annual meeting until next baturday nothing could bo done 111 re Sj'™ to a joint appointment until alter tn.it date. A motion was carried autlioiising the sub-committee calling a general meeting of the Association to consider applications when called, llie "\\ annate Technical Association applied tor a subsidy to its funds in view of the tact that the Association was catering lor the agricultural interests. It pointed out that the A. and 1 . hank balance was in debit, and the request met with no response, the letter being received. The South Ganteibuij Education Board wrote that their agricultural instructor had taken up his duties and would be prepared to visit Waimate and givo a lecture on any one or more subjects (a list of which was submitted), provided the Association would arrango a meeting of fanners to hear Mr Brown. A motion was carried authorising the President and iUr Garland to meet the Chairman oi the County Council and arrange a date for the first lecture. 'lho I resident asked the meeting to express an opinion as to whether the cattlo pens should bo moved to a more convenient position on the racecourse. The general opinion appeared to be that a mistake had been made in taking the racecourse as a showground, and members stated that had it been known that the peppercorn rent asked by the racing trustees was going to amount to £25 for one day s use of only a small portion of the course the Association would never have taken it. and if any shifting was done it should bo away from tlio racecouise altogether. Nothing was done in regard to removing the pens, but the questiou of a reduction ill the rent is to be broilglit before the racing trustees. Fixing tlio date for next show was postponed until tlio date of Oaniaru's fixture is known.
