HIBERNIAN CONFERENCE.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 31. At the Hibernian Conference to-day a proposal was brought forward —"That any financial benefit member may, on furnishing his branch certificate of good health, assure himself for £SO, payable at death, in addition to his £•2O funeral allowance, by paying quarterly in advance to the funeral fund. The payments arP based on the follow ing 'scale : 17 to '2O years at the commencement, 2s 4cl per quarter; '2O to °;j '2s 10(1; 25 to 30, 3s 4(1; 30 to 35 3s lid; 35 to 40, 4s lOd ; 40 to •15! (is Id; 45 to 50, 7 s 8d ; 50 to 55, 9s Sd; 55 to 00, 12s 5d per quarter." 'Che discussion lasted the greater part of the morning, and was not completed at the luncheon adjournment. Every delegate who spoke, with one exception, approved of the scheme. The opponent said the Society would
be unjustly trenching on the legitimate domain of'the insurance companies. The Conference, by 31 voles to 20, passed a resolution affirming-the principle of centralising the sick fund for tin.- purpose of making money lying idle interest bearing.
