PALMERSTON BOWLING CLUB.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Palmerston Bowling Club was held last week. The President, Mr E. Lefevre, occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The Secretary, .Mr Clias. Crump, read the annual report and balance-sheet, of which the following is a summary: — During the season a substantial pavilion with lockers was erected and has proved a great convenience to the ladies in entertaining visitors. The membership now stands at 44, being an increase of 7 over last year. Fourteen inter-club matches were played during the season, Palmerston winning 11 and losing 3. Three competitions were played off during the season. The gold medal for a handicap doubles, presented by Messrs Boss and Lefevre, were won by 'Messrs J. Pagan and W. •J. Ross. The President's medal was won by Mr S. Dick, and a handsome trophy, presented by Mr R. Kidd (Duncdin), was won by Mr Lefevre. The warmest thanks of members are due to the lady friends of the Club, who dispensed afternoon tea on so many occasions. The Club commenced the year with an overdraft of £2O 0s lid, which at the close of the year was reduced to £3 7s 7d. The pavilion and lockers had cost £33 15s, of which £23 9s had been contributed by members and the balance charged to general account. The separate account (cottage and land purchased) now stood at £92 2s. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr Jas Ross; vicepresident, Mr W. B. Galloway; secretary and treasurer, Mr Crump (reelected) ; General Committee—-l3r Hislop and Messrs Sloan, M 'Donald, Porteous, Muir, and W. J. Ross; Match Committee—Messrs Galloway, Clark, and Lefevre; Green Committee—Messrs Sloan, Lefevre, and Muir; delegates to the Otago Centre —Messrs Duncan and Taylor; Social ' Committee Messrs M'Donald, Galloway, Pagan, Gwynne, T. Ross, and Moodic; auditor, Mr G. B. Smith.
