MOERAKI NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Moeraki and Kartigi milk suppliers' picnic, which was to be held in a place known as Thompson's paddock, was held in the Moeraki School ground instead, and a day after the appointed one. It was raining haixl enough on Friday to slop the picnic, and so it was put oil' until the following Saturday. There was a good attendance" of people between 12 and 1 o'clock, and dinner was served a little after 1 o'clock. After dinner games were played and races run. About- 3 o'clock in tho afternoon a light rain began to fall. The people were then entertained by some excellent music per medium of -Mr Jas. Pagel's graphophone. The call of tho cows reminded the picnickers early of their worldly responsibilities. A dance was held the same night in tho schoolhouse to music nlayed by Messrs Carter and: Pa gel, Mr Charles Carter playing the concertina and Mr Jas. Pagel the violin. Mi' Barry acted acted as M.C. most successfully. Mr T. Tipa sang two songs well, which were greatly appreciated, and a haka was ncrformed by the Maori men. A little disorder was caused by one or two of the men, but most- of the people present spent an enjoyable, evening. The dance ended at 11.30 p.m., and the people went home a little exhausted after their day's outing.
