AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
(Pek. Pkess Association.) Dunedin, March 21. A conference of delegates, representing Otago, Wellington, Southland, Canterbury, and Auckland, was held on Saturday night. The split in amateur athletic circles was fully discussed, and a motion was pub forward that the conference pledges itself to abide by the result of an appeal to the Australasian Athletic Union. .Several amendments were proposed and an agreement eventually arrived at by which the conference decided to call upon the executives "stationed in Christchurch and Wellington to resign, the various delegates pledging themselves to give allegiance to a council to bo elected on a fresh election on the basis o£ a constitution altered to meet the views of the majority of the conference. The chairman of the Otago Centre (Mr J. B. Callan) and the secretary (Mr Willett) were appointed a temporary executive to carry on the affairs of the Association and accept nominations for the new council within thirty days. It was resolved : (1) That the next athletic champion meeting be held, at Auckland ; (2) that a selection committee consisting of five representatives (one from each centre) bo appointed to in future select the Australasian championship teams; (3) that it be a recommendation to the incoming council that the New Zealand champion shield points bo scored' by first and second men only, two points being allotted. to first and one to-' tho seeondi; (4) that Wellington bo the headquarters of the Association; (5) to secede from tho New Zealand Sport* Federation.
