A young maai namied Elwyn Richards, son of a, well-known squatter near Forbes, shot his father and mother as they lay in bed. He next attempted to shoot -his sister, .and finally shot .himself dead. The weapon used was a shot gun. The fat'heiis .de-ad', and the mother is desperately wounded. The details are meagre. The anniversary regatta, postponed from January, was brought off to-day in fine ■weather. The yacht race, 30-rating class, was won by Sunbeam-, Janet second, and Magic third. The Jockey Club 'has increased the added money for the ensuing year. The principal races affected -aire : The Derbv. with £750 attached to it, the Plate £6OO. the Randwick Plate £SOO. and the Cumberland Stakes £SOO. Received March 19, at 1.7' a.m. Sydney. March 18. A mam Manned 'Thynne. living at Leich-Ih-ardt, was found to be suffering from smallpox tin <a mild form. He caine from Calcutta by the Euryalus, the same steamer which brought the -Melbourne patient. With t'he exception of the Janet the yachts got away quickly. Sunbeam gradually crept up on Fleetwing in the run to Miinly, rounding the buoy in the third place. Squaring for home Sunbeam ran away from t'he others, and. led to the finish. Comparing the time the Sunbeam won with Imin 50sec to spars from Ja.net.
