(per united press association) Received November 2, at 9.10 a.m. Cairo, November 1. An Egyptian battalion has been sent to Fashoda.
London, November 1,
The Pall Mall Gazette says that it is unlikely France will risk re-opening the Fashoda question. Meanwhile Great Britain is ready tor any unfavorable turn affairs may take. She must sit quiet and firm. A solution of the difficulty cannot long be delayed. Sir H. H. Fowler, speaking at Wolverhampton, said that the policy of the Government was the policy of the Empire. Paris, November 1.
L'Eclair alleges that Great Britain's arming is intended to intimidate the Powers against reopening the Egyptian question.
