The guide was shot dead, and several marines wounded. The party retreated, taking their wounded with them. Received October 4, at 1 a.m. Melbourne. October 3. Arrived—Weuona. from Thames. She encountered stormy weather. Her deck cargo was jettisoned. Several of the crew were injured.
