A second case of smallpox—one of the crew—developed on the Caledonian on her run from Adelaide.
The Gippsland fires have destroyed fifty homesteads in the Strezlecki Ranges, twenty-five at Mirhoo North, and twenty at Terang. Mr Adkins, the well-known stockbreeder, lost 1600 sheep, 150 cattle, and also many valuable prize pigs.
