(by telegraph.) PHESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN. March 13. The Justices failing to agree in Wedderspoon's case it was further adjourned. AUCKLAND. March 12. An action for assault in connection with Kennedy's exhibition of a man in a trance was heard in the Magistrate's Court today The evidence showed that on Thursday' and Friday Kennedy advertised admission by silver coin, and invited the public to come when they liked and to stay as long as they liked. The complainant paid a silver coin, but in five minutes was requested to leave, as two doctors were about to make an examination. Complainant refused to go, and was ejected from the building. The Magistrate dismissed the case, on the grounds that the law was to the effect that people attending racecourses and theatres, even if they paid for admission, were there only on sufferance, and could be turned out at an} time without their money being returned. In the present case no unnecessary force was used. The defendant was refused costs. An accident of a serious nature befell the Hon. W. Jennings, M.L.C., yesterday afternoon, a: Waitekauri. He was riding along the road when his hat blew off. ~Mr Jennings, in watching his hat, did not notice a sharp bead in the road, which his horse shot, and flung the rider oft on his side, on the road. He fell heavily and had two ribs broken, besides injuring his shoulder and arm. Mr D. Ziman, who was in the colony a few months ago and arranged for the purchase of several properties at Reefton, is due in New Zealand shortly, as he will reach Adelaide by the P. and O. Company's steamer Ophir on the 20th. Mr Ziman has engaged the services of an American engineer, who will superintend operations in the mines he lias acquired at Reeftonalso an expert analyst : also an assayer, whose business will be chiefly the treatment of refractory ores. March 13. The Wesleyau Conference this morning considered the third reading of stations. The list was sent back to the Committee for consideration as to several circuits.
