It is reported that Baron Courcel, the French Ambassador in London, is about to resign, and that be will be succeeded by Barrore, at present Minister to Swiizerland. M. Barrere *is hostile to England. A quarter of a million capital issued by the Australian Smelting Company was over-subscribed. It is intended to erect works at Uiawarra immediately. The machinery will be capable of treating 200,000 tons of sulphides annually. Contracts are out for it, and a portion will be shipped on Friday. The imports last month show an increase of L 3,292,000 and the exports of L 2,160,000.
