Accidents and Fatalities.
(bt telegraph.) Avcbxxsd, August 9. At the inquest at Hukerenui on Thomas Broome, a gam digger, aged 74, formerly hi the 58cb Regiment, and who went through the northern war, the jury returned a verdict of "Died from natural causes," with a rider that it is a-disgrace to New Zealand that an old soldier died in obscurity, being neglected, and never getting any assistance from the GovernmentforMß services.
