The House of Representatives.
(by telegraph.) (from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)' Wellington, July 3. The Premier announced that he had taken the advice of the Crown law officers respecting Sir George Grey's resignation, and they recommended that the Speaker should obtain from Sir George himself a cable stating that his resignation was on its way to the colony. He moved this, and the motion was agreed to without dissent. When in Committee of Supply a considerable discussion ensued on the question of the non-appearance of certain returns according to Statute. Sir R. Stout, and Messrs Buchanan, Thomas Mackenzie, Duthie, and Dr Newman spoke. The Premier informed the House that the returns asked for would not be granted unopposed. The House agreed to the second reading of the Adoption of Childrens Bill and Contagious Diseases Act Repeal Bill without discussion. The second readings of the Pharmacy Bill, the Industrial Schools Act Amendment BUI, and the Corrupt Practices Bill were agreed to after slight discussion.
