Women's Demands.

[by telegraph.] Auckland, December 19. At a meeting of the Women's Political Reform League, the programme of the Gisborne Women's Political Association came up for consideration. Some of tho items were agreed to, and others hold over for further consideration. _ It was agreed that women should be eligible for office in every public body, and that the marriage laws shouM be' equalised so as to place bwth sexes on an equal footing in regard to the right of divorce. A resolution was carried expressive of tho desire of the league be accorded to the Government for appointingMrsCollings official visitor to the gaol in the interest of femalo prisoners. The league at its last meeting passed a resolution severely condemnatory of the conduct of tho hospital authorities in regard to the Charlotte Chambers case, and which was forwarded to the Government. A letter was read from Dr MacGregor to the secretary of the league, in which he said: "I have followed with painful interest the newspaper accounts of the Charlotte Chambers case. The resolutien of your league will b.e laid before the Minister, and at my next visit to Auckland I shall do my best to see that steps are taken to prevent a recurrence of such a distressing affair ; meanwhile tho local authorities can, I think, bo trusted to do their duty in tho matter."
