The Land and Income Tax Bill was read a third time in the Legislative Assembly by 47 votes to 45. 11l Committee on the Bill an amendment was carried which exempted mutual life offices from the Land Tax. The amendment was unsuccessfully opposed by the Government. Abbott's Tannery, near Bendigo, has been burned to the ground, tho clamago being estimated at LIO,OOO. The building and contents were insured for L 5.500. Adelaide, December 19. Tho Legislative Assembly passed tho Woman's Suffrage Bill. Tho only alteration made in Committee was in the direction of granting women the right to voto through the post. The amendment, however, is conditional on tho Legislative Council assenting to it.
