New Zealand Rifle Association.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) Wellington, September 11. Major Sommerville, executive officer of the New Zealand Rifle Association, has issued to members of his council a circular embodying proposals for placing rifle clubs in the colony on a better footing than exists at present. The proposals are : (1) To ask all rifle clubs with a membership of not less than 20 to affiliate with the New Zealand Rifle Association, and that a register of all members of affiliated clubs, with their officers, be included in the annual report of the Association. (2) All affiliated clubs be entitled to all privileges and concessions granted by the Association at the annual prize meeting. (3) That the Association issue to such affiliated clubs bronze medals, to be competed for anuually on their own range, the winner to be entitled to his membership in the Association for the year in which he is winner. (4) That a special match for winners of bronze medals be inserted in the annual programme of the Association. (5) That the annual fee for affiliation be L2. (6) Any rifle corps in the colony to be eligible on payment of L 6, to receive a bronze medal for competition, the winner to have a free subscription to the Association for the year, and be entitled to compete in the bronze medal match. Major Sommerville solicits suggestions, and the result will be published when all replies are received.
