The Temuka Leader saysWe have been told, on what we regard as good authority, that a Geraldine gentleman recently bought at one of tlie Government sales a piece of land for 10a an acre, and sold it again a few days afterwards at 30s an acre. No one can complain of the gentleman for doing this. Anyone who got tee opportunity would have done the same thing. Bat we find fault with the Government for throwing away the public estate in this way. The present Government reduced the prica of land to nearly one-half of what it used to be sold at previously, and the consequence Is that it Is being bought up by speculators in this way. Of course the transaction was a very profitable one from the buyer's point of view, but it is wrong that the public estate should be squandered in this way.
