MAINE GIRLS CHAT WITH PRINCE BISMARCK.

A few weeks ago a company of young ladies from Maine made a vow that they would not only see Bismarck, but shake bandß with bim. And they accomplished their vow in the moat easy and natural manner manner. The occasion was a baziar given at Bismarck's Palace in Berlin for tbe benefit of the Ten Phenning Society, or society for the aid of the poor. Tne Maine girla repaired to the palace at 1.30 p.m. and found the apartments crowded with people buying goods, much .1.1 is done in our New England bazaars. Presently the young ladies saw that the worshippers of Bismarck began to be aware of his presence, and half a dozen bonqn»ts were placed in his bands. " VVhat lovely flowers the Prince has !" Bald ono of the girls in English. Bismarck overheard the remark and, turning to the yoang lady and shaking ber band, said, also in English : " Bat do you not think thore are more bestowed on me than I deserve?" "If I had more I would add them to yonr stock," sho retorted. Bismarck laogbed and added : " I am very glad to see that you Americans take Interest enough in the bsziar to come here." The Maine girls again found It convenient to speak in somewhat enthusiastic terms in Eaglish of what they Biw and heard. " What a magnificent man Princa Bismarck is !" remarked one. The Prince turned and smiled and extended his band to each of the Maine girls and said : " And you, too are Americans. And you think the palace is magnificent, do you ? lam glad it pleases you. I am happy to welcome yon ss Americans." The happy way In which the Chancellor misunderstood the compliment to himself, and appropriated it to his palace, shows that his intellect is not impaired by years.
