DUKEDIN STOCK MARKETS.

The New Zealand loan and Mercantile Agency Company, (Limited) reports as follom, under data of May Slit :

Fat Cattle—3Ss head wore yarded, a largo number prima beef and heavy weights, the balance aged cow* and three-parts fat steers. The number was ia excess of requirements, and while competition was fairly active prion receded 15s to 20s per head from last week's; besides, a nnmber of pens were turned out unsold. Best bullocks brought L 7 10s to 19 j medium, (.5 to £8 17s 6d ; Hght weights, 13 to 14 15s ; cows, from 12 5s to 16 ss.

Fat Bheep.—29l9 were penned, including 300 merino wethers, medium to good useful, the balance crossbred*, comprising both sexes, varying from Inferior to good and prime There was a very fair demand, the whole being cleared at prices comparing favorably with last week's. Best crossbred wethers brought 14s 6d to 16s; medium to good, 12s 6d to 14s ; best do ewes, 13s to 14s ; inferior to medium and good, 7s to 12s Si ; merino wethers, 6s 6& to 9s 61.

Store Cattle.—The market continues quiet, no animation of any consequence being apparent. The sorts that have any demand worth noting are quiet—well-bred four to five-year-old bullock*, about three-parts fat, ready for finishing off on turnips—but graziers are not disposed to operate to any extent, and the nnmber required for this purpose up to the present has been limited. Store Sheep.—With the exception of a few salsa of sged merinos for boiling down, the business pot through by private treaty now dose not amount to much. The balk of the sheep at present on the market are in the hands of dealers, and are being weekly affined at auction, invariably with very latisfactcry results. Cross-breds of both sexev especially young lota In tolsrably fair condition; are still In good demand, fetchiog prices folly in advance of those obtaining earlier.
