ARRIVAL OF THE MORAYSHIRE.

The steamer Morayshire arrived off this port at 10 o'clock last evening, and was brought Into a loading berth at 4 o'clock this morning. She la the latest addition to the Shire lino of steamers, and was built expressly to the order of Messrs TurnbuU, Mart : n, and Co. The Morayshire, which Is la every respect a counterpart of the Na'rn■hire, was built by Messn Hawthorn, Leslie, and Co.} of Newcsatle-on-Tyne. She is 350 feet long, breadth of beam 47 feet 7 Inobes, and depth of hold 24 feet 3 inches. Her net register is 2451 tons, gross 3522 tons, with a carrying capacity of 5300 tons dead weight. She is built of mild steel, having eight watertight compartment*, and a double bottom which is provided with tanks for water baDait. The Morayshire's freezing apparatus is situated forward on the main deck, Instead of being placed adjacent to the engine-room, and by this arrangement it it expected that she will carry 60,000 carcises la her freezing chambers. There are two of Lightfoot'a patent refrigerators on board, having a freezing power of 80,000 cubic feet per hour. Thcie were manufactured by Tlebe and Gorman, and are of extra freezing power. The engines, which were manufactured by the builders of the vessel, are of the triple expansion principle. The diameters of the cylinders are a* follow:—High pressure 271n, medium 4Sta and low pressure 71ln, with a 4Sin stroke. The engines are of 306 horso nominal, or 2500 horse power effective, with a working pressure of l£olbs to the (quare inch. Ber speed la nearly 12 knots, on a consumption of 30 to 35 tons per diem. There are three steel boilers, double ended, and these are suppled by 12 patent furnaces byPuras. Two boilers are kept for the main engines, and one for freezing purposes. Her cabin and state rooms are spacious and •fry, and Silted and decorated in an similar manner to those of the sjl Nairnshire. The electric light Is used all over the vessel, bat we regret to learn that it is at present oat of order, and cannot be used. Tbe vessel Is well supplied with steam winches and other appliances for loading and discharging cargo. Her officers are as follows :—Cipt. B. Ccull; chief officer. Mr D. Duncan, late chief of the steamer Fifashlre ; 2nd, Mr J. Wallace, late of the Elderalle, and son of Capt. Wallace, of the steamer Nairnshire; 3rd, MrW. Menzie; Ist engineer, Mr J. Campbell; 2nd. Mr How*rth; 3rd, Mr rjuggsa ; 4th, Mr T. Kentelberry ; freezing engineers— Ist, Mr Bauuay ; 2nd, Mr Weileck. Her Oamara cargo will consist of 6554 caresses mutton. 312 quarters beef, 70 boxes preserved meat, 4500 sacks wheat. She la expected to leave some time tomorrow.
