The Federal Oouncil will moot at Hobart in January. There is, however, very little business for consideration. Mr Gillies has BUggeated that a conference of delegates from the various colonies should meet at the same time and place to dlsouss the question of federation and the proposals of Sir Henry Parkes In oonnoation therewith. Sir Henry Parkea' acquiescence in the auggeation of Mr Gilliea that ai representative of New South Wales should attend the Federal Oouncil Is generally approved of la political olroles and by the Preaa. It is understood that Lord Hosebery Is In favor of Colonial Federation, but is doubtful if Sir Henry Parkes' soheme could be successfully carried out.
