THE ACCLIMATISATION OF SALMON.
TO TtTP. EDITOR. Sir, —I observe that tho Government have voted the snm of LSOO for tho purpose of introducing further supplies of salmon ova from the Old Country. Most of your readers arß aware that lanre sums have already been expended for this nnrpose, and young fish have been liberated in nearly all tho principal rivers of Ihe coloDy. As yet there is nothing to show that the attempts of the different societies to acclimatise these fish have been euccesafal. While lam as desirous as any person in the colony to tea th«? introduction of salmon a success, I think it would be a mistake to expend further money for the purpose until it is shown satisfactorily that past ventures have been successful, and that the fish will thrive here.—l am, etc., Mix>"ow.
