EASTER ENCAMPMENT.

(BVTELEGKAPH.) (FROJI OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Dunbdin, April 4,

There was a good turn out of Volunteers at the morning parade to-day, about 6CD all told marching from the camp into town, while about 100 were left on duty. Among those absent were a large number of the Oamaru battalion, who, strange to say, were put on guard at G o'clock last night and were not relieved until 9 this morning—rather severe on them after the long journey, but the unfortunate stood their irial well. About two hours were «pent in drill, and then the battalions were marched back to camp. This afternoon a number of volunteer and other aports were held, and were well attended. Some disappointment wai expressed at the whole of the bands not being present to play ai announced by the Committee, without, however, contulting those most directly interested. In the bayonet competition the Oamaru Artillery team, who were clearly the best, were disqualified by the judges for not following a word of command wrongly given by tho sergeant in charge of them. A detachment from the Battery have given great pleasure to the spectators by the splendid manner in which they went through the gun dismounting with their heavy howitzer. The tug-of-war proved a good feature, and the cod teats between some of the teams created considerable excitement. The prizes were won by the Waikari Rifles and the Hussars, amongst the beaten teams being the Oamaru Rifles. During one of the races Lieut. M'Kay, of Hampden, received what was at first supposed to be serious injuries, but they, fortunately, are not so bad as was imagined. •
