STALLIONS THE PURE-BRED IMPORTED CLYDESDALE STALLION GL A S G O W Will Travel in the Oamaru Districts this Season, and serve a limited number of mares; ' Glasgow is a dark dappled bay, stands 17 hands high, 3 years old, was bred by Mr. L. Drew, and purchased by Mr. D. Riddell, Blackhall, arid got by that well-known stallion Darnley (222), bred by Sir William Stirling Maxwell, Bart., of Keir, Dumblane, property of Mr, David Riddell, Paisley; , Conqueror (199); "dam, Peggy, by Samson, alias Logan's twin (741). Darnley won 2nd Prize at the Highland Society's Show at Stirling- at 1873 ; the Premiums of the Glasgow" Agricultural Society in 1876 and 1877; Ist prize at the Highland Society's Show at Edinburgh in 1877; and Champion Cup at the Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Dumfries in 1878. Darnley was the sire of most of the Ist Prize winners at the Glasgow Show last summer, also at the Highland Society's Show, and of the mare that won the Cup at the Royal Society's Shows at Carlyle, Kelso, and Glasgow; also of the Ist Three-year-old Stallion and of the Ist Two-year-old Stallion. Glasgow's dam, Princess (185), brown, foaled in May, 1870, bred by Mr. James N. Fleming, Knockdon, Maybole, Ayrshire, property of Mr. James Johnston, Lochburnie, Maryhill, Glasgow ; sire, Prince of Wales (673); dam Young Rosie (67), by Prince of Wales (669); gr. dam, Kosie, by Farmers' Glory (Hendries'). Princess gained Ist prize at the Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Perth in 1871. Sanquhar, a son of Darnley, took Ist prize as a four-year-old at the Highland Society's Show at Stirling this year. ■ Terms ... C CLANSMAN, a beautiful Bay Colt, very compact, with splendid bone and hair, and possessing many qualities to recommend him as a sire, is by the imported horse Prince Charlie (4 N.Z. Stud Book), out of Heather Bell, imported from Victoria (243 N.Z. Stud Book)', and was foaled on 28th October, 1878. Prince Charlie took the Champion Prize at Christchurch three years in succession, and his stock are equally successful wherever shown, both here and in the North Island. Heather Bell was winner of the Second Prize at Geelong National Show when a year-old. When two years old, gained First Prize at the P.P. Society's Show, Melbourne, and afterwards gained numerous First Prizes at various Shows Victoria, only being defeated once by the imported mare Glasgow Maggie, which was sold at Mr. M'Cullock's sale for 830 guineas. Heather Bell, since coming to New Zealand, was the Champion Mare at Timaru and Oamaru Shows for seven years. Her dam Princess Maggie, the winner of 27 First and 3 Second Prizes, was bred by Messrs. Nelson and Thomson, Victoria. Her sire was Heather Jock, by the renowned prize-taker Blackleg, which horse gained more first prizes than any other horse in the colonies. Clansman gained Second Prize at Timaru Show last year as a two-year-old, in a large field of entries. Terms, 5 guineas, payable on Ist February, 1882. Groom's fee, ss. TO STAND THIS SEASON, At the Windsor Park Estate, near Oamaru, THE PURE-BRED IMPORTED CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE RINCE VICTOR. P PRINCE VICTOR is a beautiful, thickset, stout-hearted, dark-brown stallion, 8 years old, about 16 hands 3 inches; bred by John Henderson, Esq., Parkmains ; was got by Prince of Wales, the illustrious stud horse of Laurence Drew, Esq., Merryton, out of Rosie, a mare belonging to an exceedingly favorable strain of blood. She gained many first prizes, and at Maryhill, won second honors as a brood mare in a competition that was open to all Scotland. Rosie was got by the famous horse Victor the winner of first prizes at Gatehouse of Fleet, Stranraer, Kirkcubright, and Wigtonsbire, and in 186 i, won second prize at the Highland Society's Show at Stirling, and was afterwards sold to go to Australia. The great breeding lines of Prince Victor are the fine combinations of the Prince of Wales' blood crossed with that of Victor's, which trace back uninterruptedly to the Colomba Stock of 1835. Rosie' granddam waß Jean, the dam of Disraeli, who, when a 2-year-old, won first prizes at the Highland Society's Show, held at Glasgow in 1875; and as a 3-year-old, he won first prize at the Glasgow Stallion Spring Show of 1876. Prince Victor in 1878 could boast of four winners at the different shows. Terms—Six Guineas. Payable on the Ist February, 1882. Groom's Fee, ss. Paddocks free for a month; after that, 2s 6d per week.
