The Australian cricketers received a most hearty welcome back after their English tour, and at the Town Hall to-day? Mr. Street, of Dunedin, on behalf of the Otago cricketers, presented Mi\ Murdoch, captain of the team, with a handsome gold bat. The Mayor entertained them to-night.
The Intercolonial Conference has adopted resolutions in favor of a Federal Legislation on the Chinese question has been adjourned until the meeting of the Conference at Sydney on January 15, when all the Colonies will be invited.
In the Legislative Assembly last night a discussion took place in regard to the appointment of Mr. Farrell to the post of Parliamentary librarian, and Mr. Berry agreed that he should be transferred to another position. There are 200 entries of wool for the show in connection with the Exhibition, of which 23 are from New Zealand.
It is stated that the New Zealand brewers take the first prizes for beer at the Exhibition.
