The rivers are all flooded; It is feared muchidamage will be done"jShaw, SavUle, and Co.'s ship Lochnagar, Captain [Geprge Perram, 55)0 tons, from London, loading yitty wool here, has been driven .on to the teach, an,d is now high spd<diy. At ?,%m. .-thg was riding

with 140 fathoms on the starboard anchor and 750 on the port. The anchor parted on the starboard chain, and they then veered out all the cable on the,, port anchor. . While getting in the remainder of the' chain to shackle on to the pbrt cable, the ship parted the port chain, a tremendous sea running the whole time. The fore-topmast staysail was hoisted, and ihe ship let run on to the beach". Had the cable not parted the ship could have weathered out the gale, as there is excellent holding in the harbor. The ship is apparently uninjured. There were about 76 bales of wool on board and 54 tons of manganese. It is not known whether the ship was insured. October 28. The Lochnagar is now high up, ou the beach. Messrs. Shaw, -Saville and Co. have been cabled to in order to ascertain if she is insured in order that the vessel may be abandoned to the underwriters, j The vessel herself weighs over 1000 tons, and in the entire absence of any appliances whatever for getting her off the beach, the prevailing opinion is that there is little chance of getting her afloat again. The sea has gone down considerably, and the weather is fine.

The rainfall during the past two days has been the greatest ever known in the district.
