An inquest on the body of John Phelan was commenced this morning at 1Q o'clock and terminated at noon, when the following yerdict wass returned: —"That the deceased, John Phelan, came by his death by accident, and that he was suffocated by the falling of earth in a sludge channel, and that the accident was caused by the giving way of the false set of timber in the face of the drive." To this verdict; the jury added the fallowing rider: —"We are of opinion that short sets are qaelpqg, and we recommend the uses of an intermediate set at every third set, and that sets should go {across the! drives, and also that the legs be 12in. by Bin,"
