BRUTAL ASSAULT.
(by telegba^ij.) _ Wellington, j u iy 19. At the police Court this morning a savage case of assault was tried. Thomas Burt, a miner, was disputing with Martin Danatea about wages, when the latter ga,v§ 1) im several violen tblows,kn ocked down and hammered him while prostrate. On his attempting to rise, he threw him down an embankment, and cast a heavy lump of rqck at him, exclaiming, " You d d new chwn, I'll kill yon."
