July 13. : At a public meeting to-night, it was decided to form a 'Wellington and Central Polynesia Shipping Company, to trade with Samoa; capital L 20,000, in 4000 L 5 shares. : The prospectus will be issued immediately. CHRISTCHURCH. July 14; At a meeting of the Corn Exchange Committee yesterday a resolution was carried expressing great satisfaction at the very efficient manner in which the railway authorities conducted the unprecedently heavy grain traffic this season. It is stated' that the balance-sheet at the next half-yearly meeting of the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company will be of a highly favorable character, and that a proposal will be made for an increase of capital with a view of extending the operations of the company. WANGANUI. July 14. A large stable and six horses were burned at Moore and Currie's station, Kai Iwi, The Borough Council invite tenders for a new loan of LIO,OOO, secured upon rents arising from the Town Belt. The money is to be spent on an additional water supply and the new hospital. TIMARU. July 13. A case of bushranging on a small scale has occurred in. this district. On Monday evening two men went to Waiho station, near Waimate, and demanded food, and on being refused, presented a loaded revolver.. The police were at once put on their track, and one of them was arrested to-day. A quantity of coin, &c., has been stolen from underneath the foundation stone of the' new Primitive Methodist Church at Waimate, which was laid on Monday. •
