The Right Hon. G. J. Goschen has started for the purpose of acting as special Ambassador at Constantinople. Mr. Charles Stewart Parnell, member for Meath, has succeeded Mr. William Shaw, member for Cork, as leader of the Home Rule party in the House of Commons.
It is understood that communication has been exchanged between the Great Powers regardihg those portions of the Treaty of Berlin having reference to internal reforms in Turkey, which have not yet been fulfilled. Nothing definite has transpired as to the result of the interchange of views by the Great Powers, but it i 3 stated that the Porte will be required to accept a European Commission, which will undertake the proper administration of Turkey. Constantinople , May 18.
It ha 3 been announced that the Sultan has made a proposal to the Great Powers that a European Commission should be formed to enquire into the recent conflict between the Montenegrins and the Albanians, which arose through the former taking steps to occupy territory ceded to them under the treaty of Berlin.

It is stated that a match has been arranged between Trickett and Hanlon for championship of the world, io come off in Octol er next. May 19.
The action of Sir John O'Shannassy and Messrs. Gaunson and Graves, who have hitherto ranked as Ministerialists, but who are now among the chief critics of the Government will, it is expected, influence the fate of Mr. Service's reform scheme.

A labor schooner from Noumea has been wrecked on Laumerz Beef. The captain and four of the crew in a boat have been picked up. They state that four more Europeans, including the Government agent, and 99 Kanakas were left on the reef without provisions. A steamer has started from Bockhampton to the rescue. It is now four days since the wreck took place. May 19. A youth nrimed Bali lias been arrested under warrant and committed for trial on a charge of offering Sir Henry Parkes, the Premier and Colonial Secretary, a sum of LSO as a consideration for the Premier to secure him an appointment in the Civil j Service.. '
