The tone of the sales is strong, with an animated demand. Greasy, Id higher; washed and scoured, ljd higher. There was a large attendance of Home and Foreign buyers. The auctions close on 12 th June. The steamship Norfolk has sailed from Plymouth. Arrived—"Waipa, from Port Chalmers, January 19; Jessie Eeadman, from Bluff, January 18. Consols remain at 98f. New Zealand securities are without quotable change. ~ Adelaide breadstuffs have further declined. Wheat, per 4961b, ex warehouse, is being now sold, at 555, and flour, per 4801b, ex warehouse, at 39s 6d. New Zealand wheat is untouched. Australian beef tallow remains at 32s 6d, but best mutton has declined 6d per cwt., and is now quoted at 84s, April 21. There has been nothing definitely concluded regarding the new Cabinet. It is expected that the Queen, will summon the Marquis of Hartington. Lord Cranbrook has received the decoration' of the Grand Cross of the Star of India. St. Louis, April 21. A most destructive hurricane has taken place in the Western States of America, The town of Missouri has been demolished, killed. ; ;
