(reuter's telegram per press association.) Melbourne, April 17. Reports are gaining ground that Murray Smith will probably be offered the Agent-Generalship. The sugar market is active. Sydney, April 19. An open air meeting was -held on Saturday night numbering 1800 persons. It passed resolutions endorsing the action of the Legislative Council in amending the Stamp Duties Bill. Compagnoni, well known confectioner, and one of the largest caterers for the supply of refreshments at the Exhibition, has become insolvent.
