WRECK OF THE STEAMER PENGUIN.
<e> — [lsY TELEGRAPH.]] Wellington, January 13. The Colonial Insurance Company have received a telegram stating that the steamer Penguin was ashore at Tauranga, and that a terrific gale was blowing. They are not interested. It is believed that she is close to the spot where the Taupo was wrecked. Auckland, January 13. The Penguin is ashore at Tauranga, near Taupo.' The passengers were landed in safety. It is believed that she will be got off when the tide flows. It is blowing a heavy gale, but the vessel, it is thought, is not damaged.
