OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held yesterday. Present— Messrs. Falconer (Chairman), Anderson, Darroch, M'Donalrl, A. Marshall, Diehl, Watson, Ketchin, G. Marshall, Ross, and Mitchell. On the motion of Mr. Diehl, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, the minutes of last meeting were adopted as read. The outward correspondence was read and approved. A letter was read from Thomas Wright stating that he had come upon rock of the hardest kind in a block cutting in contract No. 77, and asking the Board to allow a rock price.—Mr. Anderson moved

that the matter be referred 'to tho f; n gineer, seconded by Mr. G. Marshall; The Engineer's report on the Allday Bay contract and the Pleasant Valley road was read and adopted. y The Clerk was instructed to write to the trustees of Mr. Peter Williams f ot payment of road rate duo by him. Mr. A. Marshall, according to notice moved that the rate for the current year be Is per £1 of the annual value, seconded by Mr. Mitchell.—Mr. Darroch moved as an amendment that the rate be !M p er £1; this was seconded by Mr. M'Donakl On being put to the meeting, four voted for the amendment, and six for t| l 0 motion, which was declared carried. Mr. M'Donald moved that tho Engineer lie instructed to prepare plans and speei. lications for the Pleasant Valley Road.-, (Seconded by Mr. Anderson. Mr. Mitchell moved that the Engineer should report as to the cost of erecting a culvert between sections SS-51. and repairing the road between sections 07, 38, 59, and <SO, block IV. Mr. Dielil moved that the Solicitor's opinion bo obtained as to whether a charge for assistance in driving rattle to the Pounds can be recovered from the owner.—Seconded by Mr. M'Donald. Mr. M'Donald moved that the accounts presented, amounting to LD7S Ills, passed for payment.—Seconded by Mr. Mitchell. The meeting then broke up.
