ELECTION GOSSIP.
Wellington, September 4. The Wellington country districts nomination resulted as follows :—Mr. F. Green, proposed by Mr, C. Thompson, seconded by Mr. A. de B. Brandon ; Mr. F. Brady, proposed by Mr. J. Foyer, seconded by Mr. C. B. Izard ; Mr. P. Monaghan, proposed by Mr. J. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Charles O'Neil. The returning officer declared the show of hands to be in favor of Mr. Izatd. The poll will take place on the 9th inst. Messrs. Hunter and Levin addressed the electors last night, and each received a vote of confidence. The contest for the city is causing great excitement, and it is expected to be very close. Mr, C, O'Neill addressed the electors of the country districts at Earori last night, and received a vote of thankg,
Wanganui, September 4. The Rangitikei election resulted as follows :—Willis, 284 ; M'Lean, 177. Gbahamstow*", September 4. The Native Minister has*left for Auckland, en route for Napier, to contest Clive.
