[PKOM OCR OWN COttREsrONDENT.] Sydney, July 10. The estimates for public works for tlie year 1870-80 amount to L 7,700,000. A political crisis ha 3 occurred over Sir Henry Parkes' resolution in favor of a proposed elective Council. Opinions in the Council are divided, and a few fresh appointments to the Council are proposed, in order to effect a remedy. The Council is popular owing to its rejection of crude and injurious measures. The man-of-war Euralyus, 5000 horsepower, succeeds the Wolverine. The Cormorant is lilied out to meet Sir Arthur Gordon at J v .»goPingo, and to cruise amongst the si-ver resorts under British influence. It is understood that a British man-of-war will i:;o; j frequently cruise around the islands, in order to counteract the German movements. The London Times' statement tliat 11. K.H. Prince of Wales will come out to the Exhibition in the Seraphis is contradicted.
