NATIVE INTELLIGENCE.

♦ New Plymouth, June 18. The reporter sent to Parihaka has not returned, nor has any communication yet been received here from there. There was a rumor in town that the talk was " dark," but as no one who attended from this place has returned yet, the report is doubted.

The natives at Punake, on the other side of the Stony River, are much troubled at Te Whiti's conduct, and especially those who have obeyed liis instructions in ploughing up the land. Owing to the great inconvenience which the messengers travelling by coach from Hawera have been put to through the dreadful state of the roads between Midhurst and Inglewood arrangements have been made with the contractor to run an pngine along the line to meet the coach, and convey passengers to and fro till the line is ready' for traffic. There were no signs of the Stella up to 6 o'clock. June 19. No one has yet returned from Parihaka, but a person who passed that way yesterday learnt that there was a large number of natives at the meeting, but that they were doing nothing. They declared that it was not their intention to fight ; and

that is about all they are saying. It is not likely the meeting will last much longer. The bad weather that haa set in will probably cause it to disperse. The natives have built several large whares at Parihaka recently.
