The Pareora County Chairman sent a telegram to the Native Minister, asking the Governor to visit the Thames district, and open the Pareora bridge. The Native Minister leaves for Wellington about Thursday.
CHRISTCHURCH. June 16. A correspondent writes to the Star this evening as follows " Sir,—The following is a statement made by one of the men returned from Waipara Mr. Dunn stated that he would put six frien on to see what stuff they could bring out, so as to regulate the work thereby. They started work on these conditions. He distinctly says that the men cannot earn more than 2s to 4s per day.'"
