I A special meeting of the Committee of ' flu's Society was held last evening at the Secretary's office. There were present—- ; Messrs. The above is the best mode of dividing the land, but the present is not a suitable time for leasing it, and it is recommended that a more favorable opportunity be waited for. The Home anil Vacant Ground adjoining the Home.—The Committee recommend that the present fence be placed on the boundary of the Society's property, and that the vacant ground be fenced in and broken up forthwith, so 33 to lie fallow during the winter, ready for planting in the spring. • On the motion of 3lr. Greenfield, seconded by Mr. Mollison, the report was adapted, and the iSocrstary was empowered to call for tendera for erecting the fpnpe, end the Master was instructed to get the enclosed ground dug up. Yonr Committee, after careful consideration of the matters remitted to them, have the honor to report as follows : That the north wing of the Home be fitted up for the reception of such indigent persons as have no home, or any prospect of getting or keeping one. That a dietary table be furnished of plain, wholesome food, in such quantities and under such restrictions as to form no inducement'

for the inffiatce to remain in the institution any longer than is necessary. That such portion of the establishment shall have iio. connection whatever with the .Servants' Home. . ■'"--.

That in order to discontinue the present system of outdoor relief tenders be called for the following stores, viz: Flour and oatmeal in 2001b bags, at per ton; bre*ad; at per 41b loaf, at the Home or on requisition ; tea, at per lb, in chests or half-chests j sugar (yellow counters) at per cwt; potatoes at per ton ; salt, at per cwt; pepper, at per' lb, in bulk or large tifte; soap, at per cwt; candles, at per lb ; treacle, at per cwt in cask : vestas, at per gross ; beef, without boiie, and forequartera of mutton, at per U>; shins and Tegs of beef, at each, at the Home or on requisition. That a room be erected near the Home for the reception of stores for distribution, to be furnished with such articles as may be necesThat the Master of the Home shall take delivery of all stores, and distribute the same, under the control and supervision of the Visiting Committee for the month ; shall enter in books provided for that purpose the particulars of "all goods received, and delivered either for indoor or outdoor relief : and shall take stock and balance such books at such times as may be considered necessary for the efficient working of this part of the institution.

That all orders for relief shall be lodged with the secretary, who shall remit a requisition for the same to the Master-, except orders for coal, the requisition, for which shall be sent by the Secretary to the contractc\i. All requisitions for bread and meat shall be is.su.cd by. the Master, and those for outdoor relief shall form part of the amount of each requisition for relief received from tho secretary. That the Master shall forward his book, fully entered up. to the secretary on the day of the monthly meeting. We would recommend that the Visiting Committee for the month moot at the Home at least anoe a week to inspect the same. That for the more efficient inspection of outdoor relief cas--», the town be divided into three districts, each member of the Visiting l.\>iviiuittue undertaking, as relieving officer, one of such districts, tb.e Secretary to be required to furnish particulars of the current of relict' in each district to the relieving oiliccr thereof on or before the second day after the monthly meeting. Should either of tl'.e relieving olilcers, from absence or otherwise, be unable to attend, he should be requested to hand over his bat to another member of CV-'mfiittuts to act for him during .inch al'acnoo. Thai relief in cash be given only in cases of urgent necessity, and by order on the Seurotary, such order to express the object for which such relief is given. That the Honorary Surgeons to the Society be rc-quc-stcd to divide the relief d.i«ifci'-iots between themselves, iyul that applications fur n'"di<jal attenduuca" be sent to the Honorary .Surgeon' of the district in. which the applicant resides. That medical comforts shall only be allowed on the order of one of the Honorary Surgeons of the Society. That the Secretary be required to keep his office open during business hours, for the purposes of this Society. That a list of necessary articles of relief be furnished to members of Couuuittee. residing in country districts, with a_ request that relief giveli be confined as much as possible to such list, that in giving orders for relief, they specify the amount of each article to be supplied, and certify to the correctness of the account of such relief. That, should there not be accommodation enough at the Home for immigrants on . arrival, which will only take place at wide intervals, the Master be empowered on, the ! part of the Society to hire a room or- empty store as near as may b.e to the Home, for lodging such immigrants, until they obtain employment. In recommending the above regulations for adoption, your Committee are convinced that a considerable saving will be effected, that the funds of the Society will be distributed with more economy, that the present complication of the accounts will be obviated, and that impositions on the funds of the Society will be reduced to a minimum. Mr. Steward and the Chairman each complimented the Sub-Committee upon the exhaustive nature of their investigations and able report, and, on the motion of Mr. Steward, the report was received with thanks, and ordered to be brought up for consideration at the next monthly meeting. , A report was also read from the SubCommittee on accounts, recommending amongst other things that tho President, Vice-President, and Visiting Committee "or the month should be a Finance Committee. This report was also received and ordered to be brought up for consideration at the next regular meeting. A vote of thanks having been passed to the Chairman, the meeting closed.
