We, the other day, stated that Mr. Goldaramer died of typhoid fever in W aimaie, and pointed out that conveying his remains by rat! endangered public health, and our remarks were reprinted by several of our contetnjioraries. Some oi the friends of the deceased attlisequently assured us that a cold, and not typhoid fever, was the cause of his death, and espreased their annoyance that we sEiosld have so misrepresented facts. Although we had not originally written wituotit what wc had every reason to believe was sjnod authority, we. on the assurance of I r.ertatn t'rteisds of the dectaied that he died i from "a severe cold, caught whilatatteuding i a ftmeral," withdrew an assertion that | deecawd died from typhoid, and gave the i yausu assigned above. e are sure that wiio desired its to make tiie correction ; acted in good faith, but we have ascerI taincd. as the result of enquiries at licad- ! quarters —from Mr. Ooldammer's medical attendant —that "inn lie died lie had typhoid En conjunction with a severe cold, I and that both complaints wvrc the cause of i his death. It is with mixed regret and satisfaction that we tiius assert the srfwolutc cOTTeetrtess of onr tirst statement on tlie very best attthf>rity. We should, jierhajis. not have done s«>. had our statement not met with emphatic contradiction from several evt'Krrfty misinformed sources.

the several years he has resided in Waikato he has been associated with Mr. James "Williamson in draining and bringing under cultivation the Rakahia Swamp Estate, and, after having succeeded well in accomplisliing these objects, he has parted with his interest in the property to his partner, who was the original purchaser at a few . t shillings per acre. Mr. Cox and his large ! family will be greatly missed by the Hamil- I ton people, whilst those of South Canter-1 bury will be glad to receive him again. | It appears that a number of Maoris in the and AN aimate districts, instead of . the railway worfis there which run over confiiscated territory, are anxious to j obtain employment on the works. There , are about twenty natives at work on one of the sub-contracts. The Bridgeport Standard, has brought trouble upon itself by a criticism made in its columns of the performance given by the Dickie Lingard combination in that city. Mr. Dalziel, the husband of Miss Lingard, states that a suit for libel will be begun immediately, the damages to be laid at 5000 dols. " It" is proposed," adds Mr. Dalziel, •' to adopt a novel mode of proving the libel, the entire coin p:ui\" intending to perform trie piece of ' Our Wives ' to the jury exactly as given to the Bridgeport audience."
