RIFLE COMPETITION.

The firing at the last range by members of No. 1 Company for the company's prizes was commenced at the headquarters range this morning, when fourteen competed. The weather was unfavorable for good shooting, the light being very bad, with a light breeze from the right front. The distance on this occasion was 500 yards, with ten shots, in any position. Captain Sumpter and Color-Sergeant King each made 35 out of the possible 40. Volunteer B. Harding, who had tired so well at the two previous ranges, was third with 31 only. The other scores were not up to the average made at the previous competitions. Capt. M'Corkindalo (C.C.) and Sergeant Clarke fired this afternoon, when tlie former made the grand score of 3!) out of a possible 40. The weather was favorable for good shooting. The winners of the prizes are, therefore, Captain M'Corkindale (C.C), first ; Colored-Sergeant King, second ; Captain Sumpter, third ; Vol. B. Harding, fourth; Vol. Kay, fifth ; Vol. Hardy, sixth ; and Vol. Scott, seventh.
