(from our own correspondent.) DUNEDIN. January 18. Mr. Green, M.H.B. for Port Chalmers, denies any intention of resigning his seat. The defence in the case of Cayford,v. Carruthers is that the alleged of marriage was obtained,by fraud, the plaintiff having exhibted a false certificate said to be signed-by a medical man. -There are a number of -witnesses on/both sides. Fine premises in High-street have' been purchased for over LBOOO for Club purposes. At the Wakatip races Haricot won the Frankton Handicap, Timbertop the Handicap, Tommy Dodd the Hurdle Race, with Tambourine second, and Haricot the Club Handicap. James Owen, the cook of the steamer Antrim, poisoned himself with strychnine this morning. The cause was jealousy. He is likely to recover.
