A meeting yesternight expressed sympathy, and "promised assistance to the, miners. Mr. Green, one of the owners of the Orient line, has applied to the Government for certain concessions to steamers in return for valuable services rendered to the colony. Mr. Parkes has requested further information. A vote of want of confidence in the Queensland Ministry has been earned, and the Government has resigned. Melbourn-e, January 17. Disastrous fires occurred at Karahu and Albury yesterday. George Martin and Co. have suspended payment. They were involved by M'Comas and Co., of London.
