The great length of our report of the deputations which waited upon the Hon. Mr. Macandrew to-day, and a pressure of late advertisements, compels us to omit the report of last night's Municipal Council meeting, as well as to hold over a quantity of other matter. The meeting of the Harbor Board, called for to-day, was adjourned until next Friday. The sum of L 29 17s has been collected in Oamaru in aid of the sufferers by the aimate fire. The amount was forwarded today. There was a capital attendance at the performance of Burton's Australian Circus last evening, when the entertainment was, if possible, even more successful than that of the previous evening. Several new items wore introduced, chief amongst which was " Turpin's Hide to ork," with Mr, Burton as Dick Turpin. To say that this favorite spectacular drama was well played is to speak of it in very mild terms. V. c ha\ e never seen Turpin's famous ride so well performed in the Colony before. Every little detail was attended to with a nicety that could not fail to make the affair a success. The most astonishing feature in the performance was the super!) manner in which the mare Black Bess enacted her part of the drama. From first to last, she was the very impersonation of what one might expect the famous metro to bo. She has evidently been well trained, and to witness hor performances alone is well worth tho money charged for admission. There will be another entertainment this evening, and' to-morrow afternoon an opportunity will be afforded children of paying a visit to one of the most complete circusos that has ever been in Oamaru. We are asked to call attention to the advertisement notifying that the Jesuit Fathers are to open a mission in Oamaru on Sunday, Bth December. We understand that a rifle match has been arranged to come off on Monday morning next between the married and single members of the North Otago Rifle Association resident in Oamaru. Conditions—seven men a side; ranges, 200, 500, and 600 yards, five shots at each, Wimbledon targets, any position. The following are the names of the men composing the two teams : Married : Messrs. J. King, 11. L. Rule, A. G. Creagh, P. R. Russell, L. Morton, A. Clark, and A, 8. Otterson. .Single : R. Harding, A. M'Corkindale, A. Hardy, A. Headland, T. Morris, J. hcott, k. Atkinson. It is proposed to commence firing at £>.oo a.m. _ . , A special meeting of the Wmarcka Koad Board will be held in the offices, Tyne-street, to-morrow at 11 a.m. At the Resident Magistrates Court to-aay, before T. W. Parker, Lsq., R.M., W. Walsh was brought up on remand on the
charge of passing a valueless cheque, at the Commercial Hotel, on the evening of one of the Show days. The case was again adjourned until Monday next, at tlie request of Mr. O'Meagher, the prisoner's legal adviser, to enable liim to bring forward witnesses to prove an alibi. A number of civil cases were then disposed of, and the Court adjourned.
