IMPORTANT LAND SALE AT TIMARU.
[per pkess agency.] Tijiajkxt, December 4. Messrs. J. T. Ford .and Co. held a large land sale to-day at the Mechanics' Institute, which was crowded with anxious buyers. The bidding was spirited. The following is the result of the sale : —The Pareora land was first submitted to the hammer. Lots 1 and 2, consisting of 240 acres, were purchased by Mr. A. Perry, for Ll6 16s per acre, equal to L 4032 ; lots 3 and 4, 375 acres, Alexander Copeland, Lls 16s per acre, Lq9o6 5s ; lots 23, 24, and 25, 471 acres '3 roods, W. J. Cairns, Ll2 10s per acre, L 5896 17s 6cl ; lot 28, 213 acres 2 roods, Joseph Bell, Ll4 per acre, L 2989 ; lots 34 and 35, 258 acres 2 roods, Win, Parsons, Ll6 per acre, L 4136 ; lots 31, 33, and 33, 549 acres, F. W. Hale, Ll3 per acre, LSO7Q ; lot 16, 196 acres, E, C, ICett, Lls 15s per acre, L 2989 ; lot 15, 202 acres, W. Levers, Lls per acre, L 3030; lot 18, 20 acres, S. Hoskins, LlB 15s per acre, L 375 ; lots 17 and 17a, 166 acres, S. Hoskins, L 5 per acre, LB3O. The total amount of the sale was L 41,155 17s 6d, for 3081 acres 3 roods ; average price, Ll3 7s per acre. 40 sections in St. Andrew's township, Pareora, were afterwards submitted, and averaged L3O 9s per section, realising L 1217.
